Banksy, the world's most famous graffitist, is to donate almost 80000 GBP to a controversial Russian art group, two of whose members are in prison awaiting trial on charges of hooliganism.
The secretive British street artist is expected to give all proceeds of a print sale tomorrow to the Voina (War) collective, which is notorious for radical actions such as staging an orgy in a Moscow museum and painting a huge phallus on a bridge in St. Petersburg.

Prominent British graffiti artist Banksy will donate all royalties from a limited series of his prints to the Russian radical art group Voina, two members of which face up to seven years in prison on hooliganism charges in Russia.
The 175 prints in the “Choose Your Weapon” series, depicting a hooded man with a cartoonish barking dog on a leash, are to be sold via the web site Picturesonwalls.com for 450 GBP (710 USD) apiece on Monday, amounting to a 124000 USD donation to Voina if they are all sold.
Leonid Nikolayev and Oleg Vorotnikov of Voina were arrested last month for flipping over police cars, some with officers inside, in St. Petersburg.
